Fair Wear & Tear Policy
What is a Fair Wear & Tear Policy?
Over the period of using a vehicle it will pick up a certain amount of minor damage and wear through normal use, this is to be expected and is the reason for a Fair Wear & Tear Policy. The BVRLA (British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association) guidelines provide an industry accepted standard for what condition is acceptable for a vehicle to be handed back at the end of a lease. This helps to avoid any disputes as all parties have access to the guidelines which clearly outlines all types of acceptable and unacceptable forms of damage and wear (in accordance with BVRLA "Fair Wear & Tear" Standards).
It is advisable to have your vehicle inspected by an expert before handing it back and having any unacceptable damage corrected. Any damage which needs to be repaired after a vehicle has been handed back will be charged to you and is usually more expensive than if you had it done beforehand.
